s All is set for the Edo state gubernatorial election which has been tagged a two horse race between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Nineteen candidates are vying for the ticket to the Government House. However, main contest is seen to be between Godwin Obaseki of the APC and Andrew Ize-Iyamu of the PDP. Edo state has a total of 1,925,105 registered voters; 192 Registration Areas (RAs); 2,627 Polling Units (Pus); and 4,011 Voting Points (VPs). A total of 25,000 police officers were deployed across the state to ensure peace and security during the polls, while 44 observer groups were accredited by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as election monitors. We are on ground in Benin ‎to bring you minute-by-minute report as election progresses. It should be noted that the INEC has adopted the accreditation and vote system. The Informant recalls that sensitive materials for the election have been handed over to the commission amid tight security by the police, Department of State Services and the Nigerian Army. As at 7:45 am, INEC officials are already setting up ballot boxes at various centres in Benin city.
